Small Inquiry Leads to Custom Family Portrait Christmas Cards

Last week, I had a local customer contact me after seeing my press printed postcards in my studio about taking their family photo and using it in a Christmas postcard design. With this being one of my first custom orders of this kind, I was of course excited about this opportunity.

I took photos of them inside with a brick hearth background and a couple outside with scenic trees behind them. In the majority of the photos, their playful dog was right there with them. The thirty minute shoot gave a variety of cute, casual and funny photographs for them to choose from.

Here are a variety of designs that I worked up for the family as their Christmas postcard.

The back of these postcards will have a printed Christmas message, you can either come up with one yourself or I can help you find one to fit your taste. The photography postcards do come with white envelopes and many of these designs can be used for folded cards too!

Custom Order: 20 Holiday Postcards for an Online Business

October seemed to be my custom order month of the year! I received a request from another online shop, Emerald Chandlery for a holiday postcard to send to her customers. Before her request, I didn't offer these in my studio but was planning to introduce them soon. Her request gave me the opportunity to bring a new item into my studio sooner than planned, which is always a good thing!

These photography postcards are made on a premium stock paper with a gloss finish. The press printed cards and postcards are ordered directly from the professional lab so that I am able to make adjustments to custom orders. Minimum custom orders for postcards or press printed cards is 15 (25 if you include a personal message, family name, or promotional coupon for your business.)

Product usually ships within 3-5 business days.

Autumn and Harvest Wall Decor: Ideas for Photography

Autumn is a beautiful time of the year with all of the rich and warm colors. Even with the chilly evenings and frost covered mornings, it still is one of my favorite times of the year. I am often in total awe of the abundance of color sprinkled everywhere. I love the rustic oranges and the rare reds of the season!

The stunning sights and delicious meals bring me here today to share with you some of my favorite autumn photography prints. Photography can be used in your home in a variety of ways. The most thought of way is to display it as a framed art piece and use it as wall decor. This is one of my favorites but there are other ways too!

Create a personal shadow box that represents what you love about autumn. Add to the box, a photography card displaying a fall saying, acorns, dried leaves, a favorite recipe, and/or anything that reminds you of fall.

Use small photography stickers to add a seasonal touch to place cards.

Introduction to New Blog:

Hello Everyone,

For those of you that do not know me, my name is Cassandra (some of you may know me as CC) and I am a photographer, artist and owner of Tomlinson Photography & Design. I love to take photographs and enjoy using my creativity to design original handmade photography cards for you and your loved ones enjoyment. I have started to make beautiful and inspiring cards to give customers a reason to write a handwritten note to someone because everyone DOES enjoy receiving a card in the mail.

My goal for my studio is focused around my customers. I want to provide you with professional quality photography prints at affordable prices for your home or office. I strive to offer a variety of products that make great gifts too like travel mugs, coffee mugs and calendars as well as photography wall art options. I'm here totally for my customers (and of course because I love photography) so if you have any questions or have an idea for a custom order, please do not hesitate to contact me. This blog has been started to take the place of my ArtFire studio blog for many reasons. You will be able to find out new product information, new listings, events, and regular updates about my studio here.

Now for a little bit of information about me, I am a self-taught photographer who has been taking photographs for about eight years. When my husband and I moved into our first place, I started decorating with my own style using all of my own artwork and photography. This gave me inspiration to start a photography business for customers to decorate their homes with affordable fine art. With the encouragement of family and friends, I opened my online studio and am currently in one local shop with more to come. Photography is no longer a hobby for me but a business, it has become what I do and my ultimate goal is to one day open a home decor/gift shop.

When I'm not doing this, I love to cook and have developed some delicious dishes. I love to try new things in the kitchen with different spices and flavors. I also enjoy hiking, being outside, painting and scrapbooking. I appreciate all things artistic and enjoy metal abstract sculptures. I am also a huge fan of Secrets of Stylist and a few other HGTV shows. I enjoy home decorating and interior design.
