| Deepika Padukone Dropped From Rajnikant's |
Deepika Padukone will not be a part of KS Ravikumar's Rana, featuring Rajnikanth as the male lead, says the director.
"Deepika is already doing Kochadaiyaan with Rajni Sir. And we might not want to repeat the same pair immediately. But we will take the final call when the film's shooting resumes," Ravikumar told HT.
Filming of Rana started last summer, but on Day 1 of the shoot in Chennai Rajnikanth fell ill while on the set. He was hospitalized in Chennai followed by treatment in Singapore. The shoot was postponed indefinitely after canning a few scenes with Deepika.
Rajnikanth resumed acting after recovering from the illness in January with his daughter Soundarya R Ashwin's Kochadaiyaan, a period film penned by Ravikumar. Deepika plays the female lead in the film.
The film, now in post production, will be released in Hindi, Tamil, Japanese and English.
Rana is produced by Soundarya and penned by Rajnikanth. AR Rahman is doing the music for both Rana and Kochadaiyaan.
Deepika is currently filming for Abbas-Mustan's Race 2 in Turkey. She will be next seen in Cocktail, due for release on July 13.
