Salman Khan has reportedly agreed to be the face of the debut edition of the Sri Lanka Premier League established last year.
"There's a big craze for Bollywood in Sri Lanka, and Salman has been approached. There's been no official announcement yet, but Salman has agreed." an insider told TOI .
The 46-year-old actor is a good friend of Sri Lanka's president, Mahinda Rajapaksa and his sons.
Back in 2010 Salman Khan had changed the venue of his film, Ready, with Asin from Maldives to Sri Lanka, and the film's entire unit was treated as guests of the state.
He returned to Sri Lanka for the 2010 IIFA Awards in Colombo. He also served as ambassador of IIFA Charity Initiative which supported housing, literacy and rehabilitation measures for the people in the Northern and Eastern regions of Sri Lanka.
The season for 2012 Sri Lanka Premier League will run from August 10 to August 31.
Sri Lanka Cricket had appealed to Indian Cricket Board to allow Indians to play cricket for them, but their appeal was rejected in 2012 for the second year in a row.
