Esha Deol and Bharat Takhtani are getting married on Friday June 29. The couple wowed with their respective style statements at the wedding sangeet on Monday, June 25, 2012. All eyes are now set on what lies ahead, sartorially speaking, and we have the scoop!
On the sangeet night, Bharat stole the show in a dark blue velvet Sherwani with intricate gold embroidery. Simone Khambatta is Bharat's designer and she has given Sawfnews.com an exclusive scoop on how the bride and groom will dress in the forthcoming events which include Mehendi and Mehendi party on Wednesday, June 27, wedding on Friday, June 29 and a grand reception on Saturday, June 30.
Simone also designed all the outfits for Bharat's dad and younger brother Davesh.
Sangeet
"Esha had decided to wear a Orange-Yellow Ghagra Choli designed by Rocky S with an indigo waistband. So we decided to create Bharat's Sherwani in a Dark blue velvet close to contrast her outfit. The idea was to make Bharat look like a modern day Nawab. We wanted the embroidery to look like it belonged to a previous century adding modern twists to it.
"Also Esha loves it when Bharat wears V necklines, so we incorporated that into the look as well."
Mehendi
"For the Mehendi we decided to modernize the Nehru Jacket. Since it is a day function we decided to keep it light and classy and give Bharat a bright and positive color - yellow. He is wearing a yellow linen kurta with a checkered linen Nehru jacket and beige linen pants.
"His brother Devesh, who recently graduated from The North eastern university in Boston and now works in the United states for FED EX, is sporting a similar look in a different color combination.
"Esha will wear a mango colored Neeta Lulla lehenga choli. "
Wedding
"The wedding dresses for both, Esha and Bharat, have been designed by Neeta Lulla.
"Esha's bridal sari is made by combining three different traditional silk Kanjeevarams in red and gold. Hema personally picked the sari from Chennai. Neeta Lulla has reworked the sari and blouse for the occasion.
"Bharat will wear a Neeta Lulla white sherwani, with intricate zari work and a white churidar.
"The wedding ceremony will be a very private affair at an ISKON temple with very close friends and family members attending. Hema has arranged for all the women to wear Kanjivarams. Even Neeta Lulla will be wearing one that Hema got for her from Chennai."
Reception
"For the reception Esha is wearing a Rocky S lehenga with swarovski work, so we decided to put Bharat in a dark grey, one button suit with a contrasting black lapel, a white shirt and a bow tie," says Simone.
How did Simone get to design most of the wedding outfits for Bharat?
"Bharat and i have been the closest of friends since we were 14 years old. He's like an older brother to me and is a very easy non fussy client. I was overwhelmed when he old me he wants me to design his outfits. That was a very sweet gesture on his part. I've known Esha for many years too as her sister Ahaana is my buddy and we go way back."
"Esha is one of the sweetest nicest girls i know. She's going to make Bharat a very happy man."
