Madhuri Dixit's 'Gulab Gang' Role First Offered To Tabu

Tabu was the original choice to play the protagonist in Soumik Sen's Gulab Gang, but the role eventually went to Madhuri Dixit.
Gulab Gang, an all-women action-oriented film, was first announced in 2009 and Tabu was approached to play the lead, but the film never took off.
The film is now being produced by Anubhav Sinha and this time Tabu's role has been assigned to Madhuri.
Madhuri will play leader of a vigilante group of women who look out for women victims of social injustice.
It has recently been reported that Tabu was offered an important role in the film of a politician, but she turned it down because she wants the original role back.
Tabu rubbishes the current reports.
"I was approached for the protagonist's role many years ago. Because of lack of funds, the film never went on the floors. They may have tried to get in touch with me this time, but we haven't had a fresh meeting. Reports of me wanting Madhuri's role are baseless." [via HT]
Soumik confirmed to HT that he had approached Tabu previously, but refused to say more.
Other actors in contention for the politician's role reportedly include Raveena Tandon and Karisma Kapoor
