An erstwhile employee on the Royal Caribbean cruise ship, Fabian Zanzi, filed a lawsuit against John Travolta in the U.S. District Court in Los Angeles on June 21 alleging assault, battery and emotional distress and seeking unspecified damages.
Chilean born Zanzi alleges in the federal lawsuit that during a cruise in 2009, Travolta stripped off a robe and pushing against him. Later, Travolta offered Zanzi $12,000 as hush money.
Zanzi initially made the allegations against Travolta to Spanish-language news outlet 24 Horas early in May, 2012.
He told 24 Horas that the Hollywood star allegedly came up to him and said he had something on his neck.
"I thought it was a fuzz. As I approached, he took off his white coat and was naked. He hugged me and asked me to do a massage," Zanzi said.
Responding to Zanzi's claim, Travolta's lawyer Martin Singer had then said in a statement:
"This is just another ridiculous claim by someone hopping on the bandwagon to get his 15 minutes of fame with a story about something that supposedly happened over three years ago."
"At that time Zanzi's supervisors did not believe him, confined him to his cabin, and subsequently fired him, according to media reports."
"Significantly, we never heard of this guy before. The fact that we are only hearing about him now through tabloid gossip stories three years later speaks volumes."
Zanzi's initial claim was made shortly after two anonymous masseurs alleged that Travolta assaulted them while they were massaging him, with the first incident occurring on January 16, 2011 in a bungalow at the Beverly Hills Hotel, and the second incident at an Atlanta-area resort on January 28, 2012.
Travolta has been married to actress Kelly Preston since 1991. They have two children: daughter, Ella Bleu (b. 2000) and son Benjamin (b. 2010). Their oldest child, Jett, died in 2009.
