The Deols - Dharmedra, Sunny and Bobby - are ready to return with a sequel to their 2011 laugh riot Yamla Pagla Deewana, with Preity Zinta as the female lead. But there is a problem. Preity is asking for an exorbitant paycheck.
Perhaps wanting to make-up for the years of her absence from Bollywood?
Depending on how the dice rolls for Preity, 37, she could replace Kulraj Randhawa, the leading lady in the original.
"Since YPD was a superhit, Preity asked for a very high price when she was offered the role," a source told HT.
The sequel will be directed by Sangeeth Sivan. Deols have let go the original director Samir Karnik.
Sivan was evasive when asked if Preity is doing the film.
"They have kept it absolutely open; nothing is clear right now. I don't want to comment on it."
The script is reportedly locked and the sequel is not a follow-up of the first film.
"It's a comedy again but a completely new story with a different characterization of the main characters," say the makers.
Production will start in September and the film is scheduled for a mid 2013 release.
